This site is dedicated to the memory of Jess.

Our beautiful Jess was born in York on 16 May 1997. The most thoughtful and selfless child we have ever known; our hero and since 1 August 2008, our personal Guardian Angel. Jess died on 1st August 2008 from acute GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease), following her Bone Marrow Transplant on 29th May 2008. This was due to the fact that Jess suffered from a rare medical condition called Fanconi Anaemia (FA), which her brother Alexander (aged 5) also has. There is such a hole in our life now but she is always with us, watching over us. We have started a new Charity, called "Fanconi Anaemia FAmily Support" in honour of Jess. We are fundraising to help people and families affected by Fanconi Anaemia. Despite the personal involvement and impact on our family, our motives are not purely selfish because it indirectly affects the entire population. Please read on and I’ll explain why. The genes concerned in FA, i.e., the “Fanconi pathway” are of great potential importance to every one of us. The Fanconi pathway is an important mechanism for keeping our DNA healthy and preventing cancers. The Fanconi pathway is often responsible for a cancer’s resistance to chemotherapy drugs. Knowing how to manipulate the Fanconi pathway is likely to lead to better and more successful treatments for all cancers. Please give generously to “Fanconi Anaemia FAmily Support”
